COVID’s fault
Plenty of medical studies report that Republicans died at much higher rates than Democrats from COVID. The reasons are obvious: anti-mask, anti-vax, anti-shutdown or simply COVID denial. To date, America has lost nearly 1.1 million souls to the virus. It would be interesting to know if those deaths affected any of the close elections across the country in the recent cycle.
Let’s use the race for governor in Arizona as an example As of this writing, Katie Hobbs (D) has about a 20,000 vote lead over Kari Lake (R), and it’s narrowing. Hobbs has been declared the winner with 97% of the vote reported.
Lake is on record rejecting the best available anti-COVID methods. Arizona is famously known as a retirement destination, and older Americans voted overwhelmingly for Republicans this year. Arizona has lost almost 32,000 residents to COVID. Did losing more elderly Republican than elderly Democratic Arizonians from COVID deaths prevent COVID-denier Lake from victory?
