Robert Morris men cruise in win
The Pitt women’s basketball team eased past Bryant, 93-54, in a nonconference game Wednesday, at Petersen Events Center. The 93 points scored are the most in a game for the Panthers against a Division I opponent since 2014.
The Panthers (3-0) shot 60.7% from the floor in the win, the first time they have shot at least 60% from the floor since Dec. 29, 2012, against Buffalo.
Pitt sophomore Maliyah Johnson finished with a career-high 20 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Junior Liatu King finished off her fifth career double- double with 10 points and a seasonhigh 14 rebounds while Dayshanette Harris finished with a season-high 17 points and three steals.
Pitt led 47-29 at halftime. The Bulldogs (2-1) were led offensively by Mariona Planes Fortuny who netted 16 points and four rebounds.
District men
Robert Morris 111, West Virginia Wesleyan 56: Thirteen players scored for host Robert Morris as it cruised past Division II West Virginia Wesleyan at UMPC Events Center. Enoch Cheeks led the Colonials ( 2- 1) with 21 points.
Top 25 women
Iowa State 88, Northern Iowa 85: Ashley Joens scored 26 points, and visiting No. 7 Iowa State survived a scare, holding off Northern Iowa. Emily Ryan’s 3-pointer with 2:03 remaining gave Iowa State (3-0) an 86-85 lead after Northern Iowa (2-1) had erased a 13-point deficit early in the fourth quarter. Ryan added a jumper in the lane 48 seconds later to extend the lead.
N.C. State 96, Charlotte 48: Madison Hayes and Jada Boyd each scored 15 points as host No. 10 North Carolina State (4-0) routed Charlotte. Dazia Lawrence led Charlotte (2-1) with 18 points.
North Carolina 93, South Carolina State 25: Destiny Adams had 23 points and eight rebounds, and host No. 13 North Carolina (3-0) eased by South Carolina State (0-4).
LSU 101, Houston Christian 47: Angel Reese had 29 points and 15 rebounds and host No. 15 LSU (4-0) scored 100-plus points for the fourth game in a row, beating Houston Christian (1-2).
Maryland 70, Davidson 52: Diamond Miller scored 19 points with six assists and four steals, and host No. 19 Maryland (3-1) beat Davidson (1-2).
Michigan 99, Western Michigan 67: Laila Phelia and Emily Kiser scored 25 points each and host No. 23 Michigan cruised to a win against Western Michigan (03). Kiser added 14 rebounds and a career-high eight assists for the Wolverines (3-0).

Tennessee 81, Florida Gulf Coast 50: Olivier Nkamhoua and Josiah- Jordan James each scored 18 points to lead host No. 22 Tennessee (2-1) to a victory against Florida Gulf Coast (2-2).
