“Three Thousand Years of Longing”: Tilda Swinton stars as a narratolog­ist who encounters a djinn, played by Idris Elba, who grants her three wishes and recounts his experience­s in this cerebral detour from the director of “Mad Max: Fury Road.”

“Pearl”: Mia Goth stars in writer-director Ti West’s prequel to this year’s “X,” in which Goth played dual roles as the old woman killer who takes out a crew of young pornograph­ers making a movie on her Texas ranch, as well as one of the young stars of the production within the film, with the story this time set in 1918.

“Moonage Daydream”: Documentar­y film from director Brett Morgen examining the cosmic life and music of David Bowie.

“Gigi & Nate”: A young man left quadripleg­ic by a life-threatenin­g bacterial infection struggles to find meaning in life until he gets a formerly abused monkey as a service animal.

“Jeepers Creepers: Reborn”: Another entry in the horror franchise in which new victims fall afoul of the Creeper, who comes to life every 23 years, for 23 days, to dine on human body parts.

“Both Sides of the Blade”: Juliette Binoche and Vincent Lindon star as a couple rocked by the return of a chaotic force from their past, namely his best friend and her ex, in this French drama from director Claire Denis.

“Christmas in Paradise”: A daughter goes to the Caribbean to retrieve her dad after he retreats to a tropical island following a breakup, only to discover he’s actually having the time of his life in this holiday comedy featuring Kelsey Grammer, Elizabeth Hurley and Billy Ray Cyrus.

“Jerry and Marge Go Large”: Bryan Cranston and Annette Bening star as a married couple who exploit a lottery loophole in this Paramount+ film based on a true story.

“MK Ultra”: Thriller about a psychiatri­st running part of the top secret CIA program of the ’50s and ’60s in which test subjects were given drugs such as LSD.

AT THE MOVIES

“She Said”: New York Times reporters Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor work on the story that would eventually expose Harvey Weinstein’s history of sexual misconduct and help inspire the #MeToo movement. Directed by Maria Schrader and starring Carey Mulligan, Zoe Kazan, Patricia Clarkson and Andre Braugher.

NEW MUSIC FRIDAY

Neil Young & Crazy Horse, “World Record”: The band follows 2019’s “Colorado” and 2021’s “Barn” with this 11-track album, addressing the state of the Earth, recorded at Rick Rubin’s Shangri-La studio in Malibu.

Nickelback, “Get Rollin’”: The 10th album from the much-maligned Canadian postgrunge band is led by the single “San Quentin,” inspired by frontman Chad Kroeger meeting a warden from the high-security California prison.

BROCKHAMPT­ON, “The Family”: The San Marco, Texas, hip-hop collective has stated that this seventh album will be its last.

WHAT’S ON TV

“Christmas Party Crashers” (Thursday, BET+): Who invited them? Nobody, that’s who in this new holiday rom-com.

“A Christmas Story Christmas” (Thursday, HBO Max): Ralphie returns, all grow’d up, in this 1970s-set sequel to the nostalgic 1983 comedy. With Peter Billingsle­y.

“Christmas With You” (Thursday, Netflix): A pop star meets a hunky single dad in this new TV movie. Aimee Garcia and Freddie Prinze Jr. star.

“Dead to Me” (Thursday, Netflix): This dark comedy starring Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini returns for a third and final season.

“Fleishman Is in Trouble” (Thursday, FX on Hulu): Jesse Eisenberg plays a recently divorced dad in this new limited series. Claire Danes and Lizzy Caplan also star.

“I Am Vanessa Guillen” (Thursday, Netflix): This new documentar­y examines the murder of the 20-year-old female soldier on a U.S. Army base in Texas in 2020.

“Leopard Skin” (Thursday, Peacock): Thieves lay low at a seaside estate in Mexico after a heist goes sideways in this new crime drama. With Carla Gugino.

“Pepsi, Where’s My Jet?” (Thursday, Netflix): A young contest entrant in the 1990s goes to court to try to claim his prize in this new documentar­y.

“Santa Camp” (Thursday, HBO Max): Aspiring Santas from all walks of life learn how to play the part in this new documentar­y.

“The Sex Lives of College Girls” (Thursday, HBO Max): The racy campus comedy from Mindy Kaling serves up its sophomore season.

“Sweet Navidad” (Lifetime, 8 p.m. Thursday): A baker meets a hunky chef in this new TV movie.

“Pickled” (CBS, 9 p.m. Thursday): Stop that racket! Will Ferrell, Emma Watson and other celebs play pickleball for charity in this new special. Stephen Colbert hosts.

“Best in Snow” (Friday, Disney+): The aforementi­oned Tituss Burgess also hosts this new snow-sculpting competitio­n.

“Disenchant­ed” (Friday, Disney+): Amy Adams reprises her “Enchanted” role in this star-studded 2022 sequel to the 2007 fantasy comedy.

“Emeril Cooks” (Friday, Roku): Someone’s in the kitchen with Emeril Lagasse in this new cooking show.

“The Great British Baking Show: Holidays” (Friday, Netflix): The seasonal edition of the competitio­n returns for Season 5.
