Excela Health, Butler Health merger on track

Westmoreland County-based Excela Health and Butler Health System of Butler have inked a legally binding agreement to merge, which is anticipated by the end of the year. Still pending is regulatory approval to create a still unnamed five-hospital system that will employ 7,300 people and serve a population of 750,000, the systems said in a prepared statement Friday.
