Giant Eagle expands access to discount food app

- From staff reports

Grocery chain Giant Eagle Inc. has expanded its partnership with Flashfood, an app that helps customers chase deals on heavily discounted food nearing its best-by date, to all of its corporate Giant Eagle stores, including those in the Pittsburgh region. Giant Eagle began trying the program in a limited number of stores in 2021 and then this summer announced it would roll it out across its chain with stores in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland and Indiana. Customers use the app to look at deals online, choose items they want and then pick them up in stores. Flashfood, based in Las Vegas, has partnerships with numerous grocery chains including Tops, Martins, Giant and FoodLion.
