In a battle on unbeatens, the Penn State women (5-0) broke open a close game in the fourth quarter to earn an 82-69 win against visiting Syracuse (4-1).

Down by 10 points entering the fourth quarter, the Lions outscored the Orange, 37-14, in the final period. Makenna Marisa with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists, and Shay Ciezki with 18 points, led Penn State.

•North Carolina remained No. 1 in the weekly Associated Press men’s basketball rankings with Houston climbing to No. 2. On the women’s side, South Carolina and Stanford remained 1-2 in the AP rankings.

•Joel Embiid has a sprained left foot and will miss at least the next two games, joining teammates James Harden and Tyrese Maxey as Philadelph­ia 76ers stars sidelined by injuries.
