Hawaii no fun for Louisville

Cardinals’ worst start since 1940

Texas Tech held Louisville to its lowest point total in 74 years in a 70-38 victory in the Maui Invitation­al in Lahaina, Hawaii, on Tuesday, a result that continued the Cardinals’ worst start to a season since 1940-41.

Louisville (0-5) had a tough enough time offensivel­y in its 80-54 loss to ninth-ranked Arkansas on Monday. Things got much worse Tuesday. The Cardinals have shot 29% overall and 23% on 3-pointers and committed 40 turnovers in their two games.

The Cardinals were held scoreless for more than 10 minutes spanning the halves. They missed 13 field goals and two free throws and committed six turnovers during the drought.

Kevin Obanor scored 15 points to lead the Red Raiders (4-1).

South Carolina 79, Cal Poly 36: Two days after its overtime thriller at No. 2 Stanford, top-ranked South Carolina (4-0) wrapped up its California trip with a blowout of Cal Poly (2-3) at San Luis Obispo. Five players finished in double figures for the Gamecocks. Creighton 93, Omaha 71:

The 16th-ranked Bluejays ran their record to 4-0 behind Emma Ronsiek’s 23 points and Carly Bachelor’s 11 rebounds.

District women

Duquesne 92, Siena 73: Ayanna Townsend scored 18 points and guard Megan McConnell pulled down 12 rebounds as the Dukes (4-1) defeated Siena (2-2) at UPMC Rooney Fieldhouse. The game was 27-27 with 6:46 left in the first half, when Duquesne went on an 18-8 run to end the half and take control of the game.
