FRIDAY Bret Michaels (The Palace Theatre)
The Poison frontman and Butler native, just here for The Stadium Tour at PNC Park, is right back out on the Nothing But a Good Vibe Tour, playing Poison hits (“Every Rose Has its Thorn,” “Talk Dirty to Me,” “Look What the Cat Dragged In,” “Nothing but a Good Time”) along with his solo material, which ventured into the country realm. The Cynics/ Carsickness (Thunderbird Music Hall)
Two of the city’s most legendary bands stage a rare meeting at the Thunderbird Music Hall in Lawrenceville on Black Friday. Led by Karl Mullen, Carsickness, a punk band with avant-garde and prog leanings, opened the door for punk rock at the Electric Banana in the late ‘ 70s. The Cynics came along a few years later, and with the addition of Michael Kastelic, emerged as one of the best garage- rock revival bands ever. Infidels open the show. SATURDAY Corrosion of Conformity (Mr. Smalls)
Founding members Woody Weatherman and Mike Dean lead this stoner- rock band from Raleigh, N.C., that drew influences from both Black Sabbath and Black Flag. They are joined by frontman Pepper Keenan (formerly of Down) and drummer John Green. With Spirit Adrift/ The Native Howl at 8 p.m. Saturday ($22/$25);
SUNDAY Rod Wave (Petersen Events Center)
The rapper-singer from St. Petersburg, Fla. headlines Petersen Events Center on the Beautiful Mind Tour, backing a third album of that title. It was his second consecutive record to top the Billboard 200 charts for the 24-year-old artist who broke out in 2019 with the single “Hearts on Ice” and debuted later that year with “Ghetto Gospel.” He’s followed that with such hits as “Street Runner,”
“Tombstone” and “Alone.” Also on the bill are Toosii and Mariah the Scientist. Tickets are $55.50; ticketmaster.com.
Mark Milovats Christmas Wonderland (Byham Theater)
The singer and showman, specializing in the Great American Songbook, does his annual festive holiday show at the Byham Theater, Downtown. He will be joined by his Santa Belle Dancers, Holiday Pops Orchestra, live penguins and special celebrity guests. Expect holiday songs from “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” to “Sleigh Ride” to pop standards like “Copacabana” and “My Way.“It’s at 7 p.m. Tickets are $40 to $68; trustarts.org.
