Throwback jerseys revealed for 2023 Winter Classic
It is customary every Winter Classic for the participating teams to enter the throwback machine and conjure up a sweater that reflects time gone by.
In the Penguins’ case for the 2023 matchup with the Boston Bruins, they are going way back.
The NHL unveiled each team’s uniform for the Jan. 2 matchup at Fenway Park in Boston, with the Penguins ready to rock a kit inspired by the city’s original team, 1925’ s Pittsburgh Pirates.
According to adidas, special top-stitch detailing was added to the sweaters to evoke the truss construction of Pittsburgh’s bridges.
