Donovan,40, was a midfielderand forward who scored57 goals in 157 internationalappearances from 200014.He is tied with Clint Dempseyfor the U.S. scoring recordand is second in appearancesbehind Cobi Jones’ 164.
Beasley,40, became the firstAmerican to play in four WorldCups: 2002, ’06, ’10 and ’14.A defender and midfielder,he scored 17 goals in 126international appearancesfrom 2001-17. He won fiveCONCACAF Gold Cup titles, the first four with Donovanand also in 2017.

Nebraska signed Matt Rhule to an eight-year contract to be the Cornhuskers’ next coach, the school announced Saturday. Rhule, 47, had been out of work for less than two months since getting fired by the Carolina Panthers. Rhule was 11-27 with Carolina and left with about $40 million remaining on the seven-year, guaranteed $62 million contract he signed in 2020.
• Arizona State was finalizing a deal Saturday night to make Oregon offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham the youngest head football coach in a Power Five conference, according to Associated Press sources.

Kiffin informed school officials he will be staying at Ole Miss, putting an end to speculation that he was the top candidate to fill the Auburn head coaching vacancy.

• America bobsledders Kallie Humphries and Emily Renna finished third in the opening women’s bobsled World Cup race of the season in Whistler, British Columbia. It was Humphries’ 10th time competing in a major international race — either a World Cup or Olympics — in Whistler, and she’s medaled in all 10 of those events.
• Speed specialist Aleksander Aamodt Kilde won the first World Cup men’s downhill of the season in Lake Louise, Alberta.
