Highlights from major construction projects around Pittsburgh and surrounding areas this week
1. Greentree Road/Green
Tree: Lane restrictions from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through late December for fiber optic cable boring and installation work. Restrictions are between Potomac Avenue and Mansfield Avenue.
2. South Negley Avenue bridge/Pittsburgh: Temporary, partial closure for repairs. The bridge in Shadyside spans the East Busway and Norfolk Southern railroad tracks. East sidewalk is closed; roadway and the opposite sidewalk will remain open.
3. Thornburg Bridge (Route 60)/Robinson, Crafton, Pittsburgh: Restrictions between Woodmere Drive and Cornell Avenue for bridge preservation work through summer 2023. Detours posted. 4. Route 50/Bridgeville and South Fayette: Lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. weeknights between James Street in Bridgeville and Millers Run Road in South Fayette through late 2022. Crews are widening the bridge over Chartiers Creek.
5. Forbes Avenue/Pittsburgh: Closed indefinitely near Frick Park and South Braddock Avenue because of the collapse of the Fern Hollow Bridge.
6. Roberto Clemente (Sixth Street) Bridge/Pittsburgh: Closed for rehabilitation until December 2023.
7. Route 28/Pittsburgh, Aspinwall, Sharpsburg and north: Restrictions in several areas near the Highland Park Bridge as Route 28 is rebuilt. Detours posted.
8. Campbells Run Road/ Robinson: Closed between Keiners Lane and Brookside Drive through November for replacement of Campbells Run South Branch Bridges Nos. 5 and 6.
9. Second Avenue/Pittsburgh: Single-lane restrictions,
shoulder closures and intermittent traffic stoppages through late December.
10. West Seventh Avenue/ West Homestead: Single-lane alternating traffic between the intersection with West Eighth Avenue and Parry Street, 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday and Tuesday so a protective coating can be applied to the existing concrete.
11. East Willock Road/ Baldwin Borough: Single-lane alternating traffic between
Short and Bluff streets, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays through late December, for water line installation. 12. Boulevard of the Allies/
Pittsburgh: Single-lane restrictions in both directions between Forbes Avenue and Jumonville Street, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays through late December for electrical relocation and field measurement work. Also, the boulevard is closed outbound (southbound) from the Birmingham Bridge to the ramp to Forbes
Avenue weeknights from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. through late December. Detour posted. 13. Connor Road/Bethel Park, Castle Shannon, Mt.
Lebanon: Single-lane restrictions from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays through December between Oregon Trail and Franklin Drive for water line installation.
14. Brodhead Road/several locations: Improvement work means single-lane alternating traffic in the two-lane sections of Brodhead between Garnet Street in Moon and Katrina Drive in Center and singlelane restrictions in each direction in the four-lane sections. Work will occur from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily and from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. through the duration of the project. Weekend work will occur as needed. 15. Lake Shore Drive/ McCandless: Closed in North Park through December for slope stabilization work.
16. Scotch Hill Road/North and South Fayette: Closed between Willow Street in North Fayette and Marshall Road in South Fayette. The closure, which is expected to end in December, is required for the replacement of Robinson Run South Branch Bridge. 17. Duncan Avenue/Hampton:
single‑lane Periodic closure near Bryant Road into December for rehabilitation of
Stillhouse Run Bridge No. 1
as well as other work. Traffic maintained in both directions using flaggers. 18. Broughton Road/ Bethel Park, South Park: Traffic restrictions between Library Road (Route 88) and Horning Road, from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. weeknights through mid-December for improvement work. 19. Route 30/Forest Hills:
Traffic pattern has changed in work area between Lafayette and Fairfax roads. Work includes culvert reconstruction in two locations and relocating utility lines along the corridor; project ongoing until summer 2023. 20. McKees Rocks Bridge:
Traffic reduced to a single lane in each direction aroundthe-clock through early July for full preservation. 21. Smithfield Street Bridge/Pittsburgh: One lane of the bridge closed long-term for preservation work, but bidirectional traffic maintained. Motorists also will see lane restrictions on East Carson Street, Fort Pitt Boulevard, and I-376 (Parkway East). 22. Snowden Road/South Park: Closed between Sheplar Drive and Piney Fork Road around- the- clock through late December for slide cleanup. Traffic detoured via Riggs Road and Ridge Road.
