These stand tall among highpointers

- By Jim Winnerman

The Burd family belongs to the Highpointers Club, which has its share of legends. Long before it was formed, Arthur Harmon Marshall was the first person to go to the highest point in all of the states — there were then 48 — starting with Mount Rainier in 1919 and completing the circuit on top of Hoosier

Hill in Indiana in 1936.

On July 19, 2018, Colin O’Brady, an American professional endurance athlete and motivational speaker, summited Mount Hood in his home state of Oregon after an exhilarating 21-day race to reach all 50 state summits. He used a small army of private and commercial planes and an RV to conquer the 13,000-mile cross-country trek.
