Sweaters and too many toys
The goodness section is taking another step toward positivity with “DOING good.” Each week, this section includes volunteer opportunities, chances to gather and ways to help. Have a suggestion? Email Abby Mackey at amackey@post-gazette.com.
A neighbor just like you
Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh is hosting the Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood Sweater Drive as a nod to the iconic children’s TV star and advocate’s signature cardigans (and his tendency to do good). Donate new or gently used sweaters at the museum throughDec. 15.
Blessed beyond measure
Having too many toys is, in many ways, a wonderful problem to have. But research tells us that fewer toys leads to more creative kids. And sometimes, there just isn’t enough space. To cull the herd of blocks, Bakugan
and Barbie dolls, consider donating new or gently used items to Play It Forward Pittsburgh, which offers them to families experiencing financial difficulty this holiday season through pre-packaged holiday boxes or in-person “shopping.”
Groups and businesses volunteer to collect these goods on behalf of the organization. For a complete list of drop-off locations, visit playitforwardpittsburgh.
