☛ WPIAL Class 5A
1. South Fayette (23-5) — Last season, the Lions pulled off what many considered an incredible upset when they knocked off three-time champion Chartiers Valley to win the title. But that was no fluke. South Fayette is strong again with senior all-state guard Maddie Webber, a Villanova recruit. Three other starters return — forwards Erica Hall and Ava Leroux and guard Lainey Yater.
2. McKeesport (23-6) — McKeesport had its best season in years, making the WPIAL semifinals. It will return 5-10 junior forward Rachel Manfredo, who led a balanced attack with 11.7 ppg last year, as well as a fellow junior in guard Brooke Evans.
3. Trinity (18-7) — The Hillers were a section champion that averaged 66.8 ppg last year. Eden Williamson (15.4 ppg) is the top returning player, but Trinity will have to replace all-section guard Alyssa Clutter and her teamleading 17.8 average.
4. Oakland Catholic (15-11) — The Eagles had a very young team last year, yet they not only made the playoffs but knocked off Hampton and gave Chartiers Valley a run for its money in the quarterfinals. Oakland Catholic will get a couple of tests in the section against McKeesport.
5. Indiana (20-4) — The Little Indians cannot be taken lightly thanks to 6-5 senior forward Eva Fiala, who signed with Dayton.
