☛ WPIAL Class 2A

-

1. Freedom (22-6) — After giving North Catholic all it could handle in the WPIAL Class 3A final last year, the two literally parted ways. North Catholic went up to Class 4A and the Bulldogs went down to Class 2A. Senior Julia Mohrbacher (15 ppg) and junior all-state first team selection Shaye Bailey (16 ppg) return.

2. Winchester Thurston (12-9) — There is no doubt the Bears are still smarting after their upset loss to Shenango in the opening round of the playoffs, but they have all-state guard Nadia Moore, the second-leading scorer in the WPIAL last year at 25.1 ppg.

3. Greensburg Central Catholic (18-5) — The Centurions have a lot of talent to build around, including junior Mya Morgan, who averaged 13.6 points and helped the team into the second round of the playoffs.

4. Burgettstown (22-6) — The Blue Devils allowed only 29.0 points per game last year. This group is a year older and more experienced and will have veteran play from two all-section players — junior forward Kaitlyn Nease (12 ppg) and senior guard Jill Frazier (12 ppg).

5. Shenango (16-10) — Last season, the Wildcats were the only double-digit seed to make it through to the quarterfinals. This year’s team features all-section player Kylee Rubin, a senior forward who averaged 14 points a game.
