PIAA football semifinals are set

Westinghou­se is the first City League football team to make the state semifinals in 20 years – and Westinghou­se will get to stay in the Pittsburgh area to play its semifinal game.

On Sunday, the PIAA announced sites, dates and times for all semifinal games around the state.

In Class 2A, Westinghou­se will play WPIAL champ Steel Valley at West Mifflin High School, Friday at 7 p.m.

Four other WPIAL teams will also play Friday in the semifinals – Pine-Richland, Aliquippa, Belle Vernon and Union.

Here are the sites, dates and times for all games:

CLASS 6A

Saturday - St. Joseph’s Prep (10-1) vs. Garnet Valley (13-0) at Northeast Super Site, Philadelph­ia, 1 p.m.; State College (130) vs. Harrisburg (10-2) at Altoona’s Mansion Park Stadium, 1 p.m.

CLASS 5A

Friday - Pine-Richland (11-3) vs. Cocalico (10-4) at Altoona’s Mansion Park Stadium, 7 p.m.; Upper Dublin (14-0) vs. Imhotep Charter (9-2) at Wissahicko­n, 7 p.m.

CLASS 4A

Friday - Aliquippa (12-0) vs. Allentown Central Catholic (9-5) at Bald Eagle, 7 p.m.; Bishop McDevitt (11-1) vs. Crestwood (13-1) at Exeter, 7 p.m.

CLASS 3A

Friday - Belle Vernon (10-2) vs. Martinsbur­g Central (12-2) at Central Cambria, 7 p.m.

Saturday - Wyomissing (13-0) vs. Neumann-Goretti (10-3) at Germantown Super Site, 1 p.m.

CLASS 2A

Friday - Steel Valley (12-0) vs. Westinghou­se (13-0) at West Mifflin, 7 p.m.; Southern Columbia (11-3) vs. Trinity (10-4) at Selinsgrov­e, 7 p.m.

CLASS 1A

Friday – Union (11-3) vs. Port Allegany (12-1) at Clarion University, 7 p.m.; Steelton-Highspire (12-1) vs. Canton (12-1) at Shamokin, 7 p.m.
