Check the Bidens

-

The editorial, “The House GOP needs to put its priorities in the right place” (Nov. 25), reprinted from the New York Daily News, reads like it was written by Democratic operatives. The editorial asserts that newly in charge House Republicans need to ignore the scandal based on information in the authenticated Hunter Biden laptop and instead fix the economy and deal with immigration.

The most misleading statement claims that “the people they (the GOP House members) represent sure won’t appreciate two years of Benghazi-style hysterics.” The vast majority of the people who voted them in absolutely insist that the involvement in Hunter Biden’s highly questionable business dealings with “the big guy,” whoever that might be, be fully exposed and dealt with politically and criminally. It is also the height of hypocrisy for Democrats to tell everyone to just move on after they pushed the lengthy investigation into bogus Russian collusion with the Trump campaign.

Republicans and fair-minded persons do not trust a Delaware U. S. Attorney to go much beyond possibly charging Hunter Biden with lying on a gun application. And they certainly don’t trust the Justice Department to heed Joe Biden’s insincere call to handle matters involving the Bidens in a professional manner.

I personally never thought the 2020 presidential election was “stolen.” Many Republicans would agree. However, we firmly believe the results of the election were potentially affected by the squelching of the information on the laptop and its authenticity. If a significant portion of Americans are ever to trust in fair elections — and in President Biden — an unbiased and expeditious investigation of the Bidens, starting with the laptop, must be carried out. The House leadership is the only avenue for such an investigation. DAVID L. SHEPLEY
