We can’t live without fossil fuels (for now)

-

Questions need to be answered before we do away with fossil related fuels, as President Biden wants (“President Biden says climate efforts ‘more urgent than ever’ at summit,” Nov. 11). New clean energy is being pushed at a rapid pace. It appears that most citizens have not thought enough about the change.

Going so fast will create many problems that should be resolved first to eliminate major problems as they proceed. There has to be a real gradual phase in to be successful without putting a real strain on a country and citizens to do such a change. For example,, many people rely on generators when the electric power goes out. What do they do with fossil fuels? We cannot run everything off batteries. And what if the power outage last for days?

One good question for Pres. Biden: How much will it cost for our military to switch from gas-driven combat vehicles to the clean energy vehicles and be prepared for war?

We definitely must think about having a complete back up when these new methods of clean energy are put in place, because they will fail us. Soolar panels and windmills can be destroyed by a hurricane or tornado. Many questions need to be answered for the public to feel secure in this mass change over from fossil fuels.
