No. 2 Jayhawks fall to in-state rival

Kansas State blows lead, but wins in overtime

Keyontae Johnson scored 24 points, including the goahead alley-oop dunk with 25 seconds left in overtime, and No. 13 Kansas State beat second-ranked Kansas, 83-82, Tuesday night in Manhattan, Kan.

Desi Sills also scored 24 points as the Wildcats (162, 5-1 Big 12) hung tough after blowing a 14- point first-half lead.

Jalen Wilson tried to take over in overtime for Kansas, converting a three- point play, knocking down a 3pointer and making two free throws for an 82-80 lead with just over a minute to go. But after Johnson made a free throw at the other end, Wilson missed a deep 3-pointe to give the Wildcats another chance. After a timeout, Markquis Nowell threw a lob that Johnson slammed down for an 83-82 advantage with 25 seconds to go.

The loss for Kansas (162, 5-1) spoiled a big night by Wilson, who finished with 38 points.

Top 25 men Houston 80, Tulane 60:

No. 1 Houston turned back what on paper is its No. 1 challenger in the AAC as Marcus Sasser highlighte­d a 23-point performanc­e with seven 3-pointers in a rout of Tulane (12-6, 5-2). Houston (18-1, 6-0) led for all but 50 seconds in winning its ninth in a row.

Tennessee 70, Mississipp­i State 59:

Zakai Zeigler had 24 points and No. 9 Tennessee (15-3, 5-1 SEC) made 8 of 9 3-pointers in the second half to pull away late in Starkville, Miss. Shakeel Moore had 20 points for Mississipp­i State (12-6, 1-5).

Villanova 76, Xavier 38: NCAA scoring leader Maddy

Siegrist had 27 points and 10 rebounds as No. 22 Villanova (17-3, 8-1 Big East) cruised at home.

Connecticu­t 103, Seton

Hall 58: No. 5 Connecticu­t rolled on the road despite having only eight players in uniform, primarily because of injury. Aubrey Griffin and Dorka Juhasz each scored 22 points while Aaliyah Edwards added 21 for the Huskies ( 16- 2, 9- 0 Big East).

District men Wisconsin 63, Penn

State 60: Steven Crowl scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and Wisconsin (12-5, 4-3 Big Ten) survived a last-second 3- point attempt by Penn State’s Andrew Funk to run its record vs. the Nittany Lions at its home Kohl Center to 19-0. Jalen Pickett had 19 points and 12 rebounds for Penn State (126, 3-4)

Investigat­ors said Alabama player Darius Miles, charged with capital murder in a shooting in Tuscaloosa, Ala., early Sunday, provided the gun used in the killing of 23-year-old Jamea Harris but that another man fired the weapon.
