Recently: Turner scored a game-high 24 points, including the 1,000th of his career, to lead the Centurions to a 63-30 victory vs. Riverview in the Jayhawks Class 2A Section 3 win against Riverview.

Check this out: Turner, a senior, was a third-team allstate basketball selection last season, but that is not where his future lies. He is being recruited by several Division II and Division III schools for football but has not committed. He’s also a starting pitcher for the Centurions baseball team.

What’s it like going through the recruiting process and putting your life on hold?

It’s definitely different, especially with the (transfer) portal now. It’s more about being patient. But it’s still exciting and I’m excited for the next opportunity.

What’s the portal like for you as a recruit looking at that? It seems like coaches kind of wait and see what happens in the portal first and then, after that, they go to the high schools. It seems like we’re almost last on the totem

pole now, which is interesting. They kind of follow you and talk to you here and there, but it’s not fully engaged.

How hard is it to play the wait-and-see game as a senior?

Think the hardest part is the people that ask me, I can’t fully answer them yet. Sorry… It’s all good. But it’s all about being patient. God has a plan and that’s all I can do.

What gets you up for a game?

Definitely music. It gets me going and focused and locked in. I listen to some ’70s soul music, which is odd because a lot of people think it’s weird and I’ll throw some rap in there.

What is is your favorite sport, football basketball or baseball? Probably baseball just for fun. Basketball to play. But for college and all that stuff, it’s football. It’s a tough decision because I love all three.

How hard will that be to give up baseball and basketball?

It will be tough, but it’s a great opportunity to play at the next level, so I can’t pass that up.

What was it like scoring your 1,000th point? It was amazing. There’s so many people there that supported me and having them there at a home game just felt amazing.

Christmas is coming, so what’s your favorite Christmas carol? Probably “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”

What do you want to find in your stocking for Christmas? Definitely some new drip. Some kind of shoes or something like that.

What’s a show that you’re streaming? I’m watching “The Roman Empire” on Netflix, which is really weird. But I started watching it and I can’t stop.
