Jaguars’ Lawrence OK to play
Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol Saturday andwill travel with the team toTampa Bay.
Lawrence is expected to start against the Buccaneers (7-7) on Sunday, a huge boost for the Jaguars (8-6) as they try to end a three-game losing streak.
Lawrence practiced Friday for the first time all week and was later cleared by team doctors and the league’s independent neurological consultant.
The Jaguars believe Lawrence sustained a head injury while scrambling up the middle on the team’s final drive in a 23-7 loss to Baltimore
last weekend. He misfired on seven of his final eight passes.
Lawrence has been questionable to play several times over the past two seasons but found a way to avoidmissing a start.
Chiefs
Kansas City ruled out embattled wide receiver Kadarius Toney with a hip injury for Sunday, along with third-down back Jerick McKinnon because of a groin injury and left tackle Donovan Smith, who will miss his third consecutive gamewith a neck injury.
Colts
Running back Zack Moss was downgraded to out for Indianapolis’ game Sunday at Atlanta, the team announced. Moss was injured last week in the win against the Steelers. The Colts (8-6), in the thick of the AFC playoff race, are expected to get running back Jonathan Taylor back after he missed three games following thumbsurgery.
Bears
Chicago kicker Cairo Santos signed a four-year contract extension that runs through the 2027 season. Santos, 32, is 27 for 29 on field goals and 24 for 26 on extra points heading into Sunday’s gameagainst Arizona. He is 6 for 6 on field-goal attempts from 50-plus yards this season. Saturday night
Josh Allen accounted for three touchdowns, Tyler Bass made a 29-yard field goal with 28 seconds remaining, and the Buffalo Bills escaped with a 24-22 victory against the Los Angeles Chargers in Inglewood, Calif. Allen ran for two TDs and threw for one, becoming the first player in NFL history with four consecutive seasons with 40 combined touchdowns. Bass’ go-ahead kick capped a 13-play, 64yard drive that included Allen’s 15-yard completion to Khalil Shakir on third down.
