Guiness

Guiness, or as his friends call him “Guinea Pig” or “Guinny,” is a 5-year-old Labrador-retriever mix who weighs about 70 pounds.

He came to the Beaver County Humane Society on Aug. 10 after a scary journey. He was found abandoned in the woods, too terrified to walk. When he got to the shelter, he was still confused and unsure about what was going on.

He made one friend first, then another and another. He slowly began trusting the staff. They were patient with Guiness and introduced him to more canine friends.

He is currently looking for a foster to adopt home to help him grow even more. Are you the one who can show Guiness unconditional love? To learn more, go to beavercountyhumanesociety.

Candycane

Candycane, a 6-year-old tabby cat, is a striped love bug who came to the Butler County Humane Society as a stray at the end of June. She was very timid until she was promoted to the executive director’s office. Now she has staff crawling around on the floor just to get her attention!

She’s the sweetest cat and loves to get pets and even gives kisses. Candycane would be the purrrfect companion

for anyone, but especially people who work from home — she’s an excellent executive assistant!

If you’re interested in learning more or meeting Candycane, contact the Butler County Humane Society and read more about her at www.butlercountyhs.org.

Brooklyn

Brooklyn is a regal 10month-old shepherd mix who weighs 60 pounds and recently arrived at the WashingtonArea Humane Society.

She knows her basic commands and loves to play with tennis balls and stuffies. True to her breed, she has a protective instinct and can be people- and dog-selective, but she’s also fiercely loyal. Brooklyn loves snuggle time and learning new things.

She is young and will benefit from continued training. Brooklyn would do best in a home without other dogs or children under 15. If you’re interested in learning more, go to washingtonpashelter.org.
