Wahab dominates for Penn State in win vs. Maryland

Qudus Wahab scored 19 points and grabbed 15 rebounds against his former team, Ace Baldwin Jr. had 17 points and 11 assists to help Penn State beat Maryland, 85-69, Sunday night in the regular season finale for both teams.

Wahab — who spent two seasons at Georgetown, played the 2021-2022 season at Maryland and went back to Georgetown before transferri­ng to Penn State in the offseason — was 7-of10 shooting. RayQuawndi­s Mitchell scored 14, Moon native Puff Johnson 13 and Nick Kern 10 for Penn State (15-16, 9-11 Big Ten).

Top 25 men’s Purdue 78, Wisconsin 70:

Zach Edey had 25 points and 14 rebounds in his home finale and host No. 3 Purdue (28-3, 17-3 Big Ten) beat Wisconsin (19-12, 119) to end the regular season. Edey became the first Big Ten player to exceed 2,200 career points and 1,200 boards.

Illinois 73, Iowa 61: Terrence Shannon Jr. scored 25 points, Quincy Guerrier had 14 points and 13 rebounds, and visiting No. 12 Illinois (22-8, 13-6 Big Ten) beat Iowa (18-12, 10-9) to round out the regular season.

Women’s tournament­s

ACC: Star freshman Hannah Hidalgo had 22 points as No. 14 Notre Dame (266) held off No. 10 North Carolina State (27-6), 55-51, in Sunday’s title game at the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament.

Big Ten: Caitlin Clark overcame a cold start to score 30 of her 34 points after halftime and help thirdranke­d Iowa (29-4) rally past Nebraska (22-11), 94-89, in overtime to win a third straight Big Ten tournament.

Big East: Paige Bueckers scored 27 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead No. 9 UConn (28-5) to a 58-29 win against Marquette (23-8) in the Big East tournament semifinals. ... Kelsey Ransom scored 14 points to lead sixth-seeded Georgetown to a 55-46 upset of No. 21 Creighton in the Big East tournament semis.

Pac-12: McKenzie Forbes scored 26 points and No. 5 Southern California (26-5) beat No. 2 Stanford (28-5), 74-61, to win the Pac-12 tournament championsh­ip and earn the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

SEC: MiLaysia Fulwiley scored a career- high 24 points including four 3-pointers as No. 1 South Carolina (32-0) held off No. 8 LSU (28-5), 79-72, to win the Southeaste­rn Conference tournament title, a victory marred by a fourth-quarter fight that led to Gamecocks leading scorer and rebounder Kamilla Cardoso being ejected.

Big South: Bryanna Brady scored 21 points to help No. 5 seed Presbyteri­an (20-14) beat Radford (15-18), 6037, to win the Big South Conference tournament and clinch at automatic berth into the NCAA tournament.

Atlantic- 10: Maggie Doogan scored 18 points and Richmond (29-5) added its first Atlantic 10 Conference tournament title to its first regular-season crown with a 65-51 win against Rhode Island (21-14), sending the Spiders to their fourth NCAA tourney.

Southern: Jada Quinn scored 18 of her 32 points in the fourth quarter to lead Chattanoog­a (28-4) to its 20th Southern Conference tournament title and 17th NCAA tournament berth with a 69-60 win against UNC Greensboro (21-11).

Men’s tournament­s

Missouri Valley: Tucker DeVries scored 27 points as Drake (28-6) defended its Missouri Valley Conference tournament title for an NCAA berth with an 84-80 win against Indiana State (28-6).

Atlantic Sun: Jalen Blackmon scored a career-high 43 points and Stetson (2212) defeated Austin Peay (19-15), 94-91, to win the Atlantic Sun Conference tournament and an auto bid to the NCAA tourney.

Big South: Walyn Napper approached triple-double territory as fifth-seeded Longwood (21-13) defeated No. 2 UNC Asheville (22-12), 8559, to win the Big South Conference tournament.

Ohio Valley: Riley Minix scored 26 points and Morehead State (26-8) blew a 17point lead before the Eagles beat No. 1 seed ArkansasLi­ttle Rock (21-12), 69-55, Saturday night in the title game of the Ohio Valley Conference tourney.
