Magic will have a winning record

Paolo Banchero had 20 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists for his second career triple-double to help the Orlando Magic beat the New Orleans Pelicans 121-106 Thursday night at home.

The victory was the 18th in the past 23 games for the Magic, and also assured them of just their second winning season in 12 years. They are 42-28.

Banchero had his big night despite missing his first 10 shots, including two free throws.

Jalen Suggs led Orlando with 22 points, and Franz Wagner added 18.

Trey Murphy III had 21 points for New Orleans.

Bucks 115, Nets 108: Damian Lillard had 30 points and 12 assists and made two late steals as Milwaukee capitalize­d on Giannis Antetokoun­mpo’s return. Antetokoun­mpo had 21 points, nine rebounds and five assists after missing two games because of an issue with his left hamstring. Mikal Bridges scored 24 points for Brooklyn, which lost its fifth in a row,

Mavericks 113, Jazz 97: Luka Doncic had 34 points, nine rebounds and eight assists and Dallas moved into the sixth and final guaranteed playoff position in the Western Conference. Dallas improved to 41-29 with its third straight victory and seventh in eight games. The Mavericks are a half-game ahead of Sacramento and Phoenix.

Wizards 109, Kings 102: Washington won just its 12th game of the season, defeating Sacramento as Kyle Kuzma scored 31 points. The Wizards snapped a five-game losing streak. Kuzma, who also had six rebounds, had missed the team’s previous two games with shoulder soreness. Deni Avdija added 17 points and Corey Kispert scored 15, sending Sacramento to its first loss in the last five meetings in Washington.

Notes

The G League Ignite will not play after this season. The league made the announceme­nt Thursday, saying it was shutting down because of “the changing basketball landscape, including the NCAA’s Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) policy and the advent of collective­s and the transfer portal” as its primary reasons.

• Sacramento Kings guard Kevin Huerter will be sidelined with a dislocated left shoulder and labral tear.
