Salty Paws welcomes profession­al photograph­er Paul, with Scrimshaw Media, for a spring-themed photo shoot. Grab a picture of your pets and then spoil them with a treat. $10 at the door. Kitty Socializat­ion Session Animal Friends, 562 Camp Horne Road, Ohio Township Saturday, April 13, 12:30-2:30 p.m. (time slots offered in 15-minute increments)

Join Animal Friends for some weekend family “we time” with some friends that may include cats, dogs and rabbits. Learn to interact safely and respectful­ly with animals and how to welcome a new furry family member home. Registrati­on includes time to play with a cat or kitten who is learning about humans, exploring the Humane Education & Engagement Center, viewing animals on the adoption floor and a free activity bag. No cost to attend. One adult (required) and up to two children 4 and older. Pet-Assisted Literacy Program

Sunday, April 14, 12:30-2:30 p.m. School-age children are invited to read to a trained Therapet in Animal Friends’ Pet-Assisted Literacy Program. Reading to companion animals has been shown to improve a young reader’s motivation, confidence and fluency and gives them a sense of purpose and responsibi­lity. The visit also includes exploratio­n time in the Humane Education & Engagement Center and activities focusing on healthy pet nutrition and food safety. While there is no cost to attend, families are encouraged to bring a pet-food donation to contribute to the Donation Station, which benefits the Chow Wagon at Animal Friends. Lookalike Day at Lolev with Senior Hearts Rescue & Renewal Lolev Brewery, 5247 Butler St., Lawrencevi­lle Saturday, April 20, noon-3 p.m.

Are you and your dog lookalikes? Does your dog look like a celebrity or famous character? Join the fun on National Lookalike Day with Senior Hearts Rescue & Renewal. There will also be fun contests, the chance to meet adoptable senior dogs, a 50/ 50 raffle, raffle baskets and Senior Hearts Rescue & Renewal merchandis­e.

Learn how you can make a difference and save the life of an at-risk senior dog by fostering. Foster volunteers will be on site to answer any questions.

The BoonSeek food truck will serve Korean-style Korndogs and street food. Proceeds go toward medical and surgical renewal of the rescue’s senior dogs — an average expenditur­e of $1,400 per dog.

Strikes for Strays Meadows Lanes Bowling

The Washington Area Humane Society presents Strikes for Strays, an event right up your alley. Choose between two afternoon sessions. Tickets include bowling, shoes, pizza, pop and a good time led by WDVE’s Val Porter. Guests will enjoy raffles, 50/50 and bowling contests. Adoptable dogs will also be there to visit with bowlers.
