Marshall over Colorado St by 1
Like the Ducks, the Thundering Herd also entered 2017 on a ‘mission’ as Doc Holliday’s men posted just three wins last season after winning 33 games the previous three years. And if the Huntington Herd follows the Marshall plan, then they should cap off the undertaking with a victory as they are 10-1 SUATS in their last 11 bowl games, including 8-0 SUATS against .580 or greater opponents. We already know about Conference USA’s postseason success (see Cure Bowl writeup) and now we can add that USA bowlers are 5-1 SUATS off an ATS loss versus the Mountain West. In addition, mission bowl dogs of 6 or less points are 12-6 SU and 12-5-1 ATS. Meanwhile, the Rams have been anything but tough down the stretch, riding a 0-6 ATS losing skid which brings this little tidbit into play: bowl favorites off four consecutive ATS losses are 6-13 ATS. Even worse, Colorado State is 6-14 SU versus fellow bowlers under head coach Mike Bobo and 0-3 SUATS on the alleys since 2014, including a 61-50 setback to Idaho last season as 16-point chalk. With that, we’ll go guns a-blazing with Doc Holliday and company as we call for the outright win. ‘Plan’ accordingly.
