Wil­lie Tag­gart’s less than one-and-done act in Eu­gene (he won’t be coach­ing the Ducks to­day in Sin City) makes John Cali­pari’s Ken­tucky cast look like a bunch of grad stu­dents. How­ever, in Tag­gart’s de­fense he did com­plete his ‘mis­sion’, in­her­it­ing a 4-win Ore­gon team and re­turn­ing them back to bowl form. And though some might dis­agree, we’re sure the ad­vance copy of our BOWL STAT RE­PORT (which shows in­terim coaches 1-9 ATS against foes off a SU win and ATS loss) was the key rea­son in Ore­gon’s im­me­di­ate hir­ing of OC Mario Cris­to­bal. Cris­to­bal los­ing the in­terim la­bel prob­a­bly won’t help the Ducks’ 3-7 ATS log as fa­vorites of 5 or more points ver­sus Moun­tain West foes or their 3-5 SUATS and ITS mark ver­sus fel­low bowlers this sea­son. What will help is the re­turn of QB Justin Her­bert. With Her­bert un­der cen­ter, the webbed ones were 6-1 SU and 4-2 ATS, av­er­ag­ing 52 PPG. With­out the 6’6” 225-pound sopho­more sig­nal­caller, the Ducks went just 1-4 SUATS, tal­ly­ing only 15 PPG. Still, the feel­ing here
