Arizona over WASHINGTON by 3
The Skins were throttled for the second straight week and they can’t even blame it on losing a starting QB like the myriad of other teams around the league. Instead, Kirk Cousins was consistently harassed by the ferocious Charger pass rush and ended up with just 151 yards through the air and now wonders if he has any future at all in Washington. HC Jay Gruden says the team’s preparation is not the problem, but DB D.J. Swearinger vehemently disagreed in the locker following the embarrassing defeat, saying that several “blah” practices during the week caused many Redskins to be unprepared to play. Over the last five weeks, Washington has allowed more points than any team in the NFL and is ranked 27th in yardage given up over that period. The Skins have now posted a 7-17-2 ATS mark against NFC West opponents, including 1-9 ATS at home, and are also 0-8 ATS in the first of consecutive home games when facing a sub .500 opponent. Add to that the Cards’ recent success in this series, covering three straight, and a 6-7 record somehow still good enough to keep them in the playoff hunt. Arizona is one of several NFL teams down to their third QB, but the bottom line today is the Redskins appear to have raised the white flag while the redbirds are still in flight and alive in the NFC Wild Card race.
