BEST BET OAKLAND over Dallas by 8

Playbook Football (Midweek Alert) - - 2-minute Handicap -

Both owners should be wearing out the carpet in their respective luxury suites today. The visiting Cowboys are currently the No. 10 seed, one game back of No. 6 seed Atlanta in the Wild Card race, while the Raiders hold down the No. 9 playoff seed in the AFC, one game behind No. 6 seed Buffalo. What to do? A trip to the ATS archives courtesy of our all-knowing database reveals lots of bad ju-ju for Dallas today. Jerry’s kids are 0-7 ATS following an ATS win of more than 3 points when facing AFC West opponents coming off a loss, 1-10 ATS away in Game 7 of the season against an opponent coming off a loss, and 1-6 ATS away following the Giants when facing an opponent coming off a division game. Whew! Things are equally desperate for the 6-7 Raiders after last week’s loss to Kansas City, a game where the Oakland offense never showed up until the final quarter, outscoring the Chiefs 15-0 after falling behind 26-0. The Raiders’ offensive line must do a much better job of protecting QB David Carr today, after he spent most of the KC game running for his life. Meanwhile, Pokes QB Dak Prescott has regained his touch the last two weeks, firing 5 TD passes as his team rang up a total of 68 points. But we’re still not sold on the ‘Boys here, not with them arriving off consecutive division clashes and with RB Ezekiel Elliott not due back until next week. Oakland has won its last two contests on this field and also owns the approval of THE CLINCHER: See this week’s AWESOME ANGLE on page 2.
