Iowa State over IOWA by 1
Ironically, the Cyclones were another team victimized by the weather derailing their season-opening plans last week. So now they travel into the friendly confines of Iowa City having covered 8 of their last 10 road trips in the series. They’re also 14-5 SU in lid-lifters, as well as 14-5-1 ATS in road openers overall. And with a 44-41 slugfest setback suffered in Ames last season versus the Hawkeyes still on their minds, the Cyclones will be in a whirlwind to avenge three straight losses to Iowa. In 2017, Iowa State finished a solid 8-5 in Campbell’s second year (including a Liberty Bowl win over Memphis), with 4 of their 5 losses coming by a TD or less. Meanwhile, the Hawkeyes have not fared well trying to fend off nonconference avenging foes, going just 1-7 versus the number. Iowa got off to a slow start offensively in their opener against Northern Illinois – clinging to 3-0 lead midway through the 3rd quarter – before finally pulling away and scoring 30 points in the last 22:40 to win 33-7. The points are a bonus in this potential upset alert.
