Good news, Texas fans! We actually peeked ahead to UT’s 2019 schedule and you don’t have to open against Maryland! That’s good news for us, too, as Texas has failed to bring home the bacon as our 5* Week One Best Bet against the Terps for two straight years. Much like with Michigan, the perception that the Shorthorns belonged in the preseason Top 25 was flattened by the reality of another SU loss as double-digit chalk to open a new season under HC Tom Herman. Thankfully for the burnt orange, they get a fresh pint of blood while in the recovery unit: what’s left of a oncecompetitive Tulsa team. Exhibit A – the Folden Hurricane had to score not one but TWO touchdowns late in the fourth quarter to pull out a 38-27 win over Central Arkansas last week. Throw in Exhibits B&C – a lifeless

effort versus Big 12 opponents and a 1-7 ATS record in the first road game of the year. Good for what ails you, right? Unfortunately for Texas, once we get past Bevo’s recent 5-0 ATS run as non-conference chalk of 20 or more points, the field is littered with duds like 0-4 ATS in the first of 3-plus home games and 1-4 ATS after a revenge road game. And lest we forget, the Shorthorns are a guest in this week’s – and not in a good way. Look, on the heels of a 2-win effort last year, the Hurricane is little more than a big bag of wind these days. But with deflated Texas camped inside the this week, you either play them or pass. Your call.
