SYRACUSE over Florida St by 6
We hope someone confided to new Florida State head coach Willie Taggart that if he took the job, he would have to hang on for dear life during the early part of the 2018 season. After the Seminoles were taken behind the shed by Virginia Tech in FSU’s season, home and ACC opener, 24-3, Taggart watched as his team was out-gained 535-452 in Game Two, a lackluster 36-26 win over Samford (that’s Samford, folks, not Stanford). It might be a good thing for the Noles to get out of town and ease the ceaseless pressure from disgruntled home crowds. But while Taggart owns a sweet 30-13-1 ATS record when playing away, he’ll need to overcome FSU’s mark as conference road chalk of 20 or less points. Yes, it’s strange to see the .500 Seminoles looking up at the undefeated Orange but our well-oiled machine likes Syracuse’s chances here as it notes that CFB home dogs off consecutive wins are a rock solid 75-29-3 ATS after scoring 40-plus points in each of their previous two games, going
last season. In addition, SU head coach Dino Babers is 13-7 SU and 12-7-1 ATS in games where he owns the better record, including
the last twelve. Yes, taking the Cuse against a perennial power like this can be as daunting as a trust-fall. To which we say, close your eyes and let go.
