New Mexico over NEW MEXICO ST by 6
Talk about taking a powder after winning its first bowl game in 57 years last season! NMSU has been a masochist’s dream this season by going 0-3 SUATS while being out-yarded in all three contests by 248 YPG and losing to the spread by 58 combined points. To make matters worse this week, they face in-state rival New Mexico, a team they’ve knocked off in each of the past two seasons as 7 and 11-point dogs. Suffice it to say that suddenly Doug is no longer Las Cruces’ favorite Martin. Meanwhile, the Lobos have not shown much of a defense this season – it’s one thing to give up 568 yards to Wisconsin, but an equal amount of offensive production to Incarnate Word (?!?)… thats a whole ‘nother story. The bottom line here is it’s not in our blood to lay points on the road with defenses that are allowing 567 YPG, especially in rivalry games. But the Aggies look like a shell of last year’s 7-win bowl squad, so we can’t go that way, either. So, like most football fans that live outside of the Land of Enchantment, we really have little interest in this contest.
