S ALABAMA over Texas St by 8
Between a rock and a hard place, the lesser of two evils… you know the various terms for being stuck in a bad situation with no way out (think 127 Hours with Franco). Granted, taking in the full 3-hour grandeur of this contest is probably preferable to sawing your own arm off with a pocketknife, but we ask you to withhold judgement until viewing the exhibits. Let’s start with the hosts, South Alabama, trying to somehow get along after the departure of longtime head coach Joey Jones, and the Jaguars are not off to a great start under new HC Steve Campbell. In fact, this is not the most trusted role for the dog-loving Jags who bring a putrid log as favorites in to this battle. Texas State managed to win its obligatory game over a FCS foe but the Bobcats have won only THREE games in their last 22 tries. Ugh. And after their 36-20 win over Texas Southern last week, the visitors are not in a good role tonight: the Bobcats are in games following a double-digit win. With ugly numbers abounding on both sides of the ball, we’ll make like a nervous trial witness and plead the 5th.
