Eithen Sweet, Bespoke Cutter at Thom Sweeney Bespoke Tailors.

What is style to you?

“Style to me is the single most personal and important way to express your taste and mood. Although I follow a set of rules in terms of how I dress, I actually feel comfortable knowing my likes and dislikes. What matters is that my style defines me as a person and that feeling satisfied with myself boosts my confidence. Style is one of the first things you notice about a person, so dressing a certain way is important, especially if you want to instil trust in you and the decisions you make.”

Describe your approach to vintage fashion.

“Vintage fashion underpins all the style choices I make. Ever since I, as a young boy, began working with vintage clothing, my knowledge and respect for garments and their history has grown. My job as a tailor is based on a tradition of craftsmanship that has been passed on for centuries. While methods and techniques develop and function plays a bigger role, they can all be traced back to the same starting point.”

Why bespoke?

”Because few things are as beautiful as something that someone has created with love and passion for someone else to appreciate.”

What is your source of style inspiration?

“Anything can inspire me, from a certain colour to the general environment I find myself in. However, whenever I work with clients the inspiration has to come from them. After all, it’s their idea, their needs and their trust I work with.”

Name one must-have item in your wardrobe.

”I always carry a pen and a comb. I know they’re trivial objects, but there’s always someone who needs a pen … and the comb, well, that’s a product of my vanity.” www.thomsweeney.co.uk
