NATIONAL POETRY COMPETITION
Stephen Sexton of Belfast won the 2016 National Poetry Competition for his poem “The Curfew.” He received £5,000 (approximately $6,500). Caleb Parkin of Bristol, England, won the second-place prize for “The Desktop Metaphor.” He received £2,000 (approximately $2,600). T. L. Evans of Hertfordshire, England, won the third-place prize for “Detuned Radio.” He received £1,000 (approximately $1,300). The winning poems were published in the Spring 2017 issue of the Poetry Review and on the Poetry Society of the United Kingdom’s website. Moniza Alvi, Gerry Cambridge, and Jack Underwood judged.
