GINA BERRIAULT AWARD
Cristina García of San Francisco won the 2017 Gina Berriault Award. García, whose most recent book is the forthcoming novel Here in Berlin (Counterpoint, 2017), received $500 and will be interviewed and have a short story published in Fourteen Hills, San Francisco State University’s literary journal. The annual award is given to a fiction writer “with a love of storytelling and a commitment to helping young writers.” There is no application process. Fellowships in Creative Writing. They each received a $10,000 stipend and a yearlong residency at San José State University. The annual awards are given to fiction writers or creative nonfiction writers. The next deadline is January 2, 2018.
