Virginia Center for the Creative Arts
The Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VCCA) offers residencies of up to two months to poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers on a 450-acre estate at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Open year-round, the center accommodates up to 13 writers at a time and provides separate working and living quarters as well as all meals. There is no residency fee, but residents are encouraged to make a daily contribution according to their abilities. For residencies from February 2018 through May 2018, using the online application system submit 6 to 10 poems, up to two short stories or essays, or up to 25 pages of a novel or book of creative nonfiction, a résumé, two letters of recommendation (sent directly to VCCA by the references), and a brief professional statement with a $40 application fee by September 15.
