The Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VCCA) offers residencie­s of up to two months to poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers on a 450-acre estate at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Open year-round, the center accommodat­es up to 13 writers at a time and provides separate working and living quarters as well as all meals. There is no residency fee, but residents are encouraged to make a daily contributi­on according to their abilities. For residencie­s from February 2018 through May 2018, using the online applicatio­n system submit 6 to 10 poems, up to two short stories or essays, or up to 25 pages of a novel or book of creative nonfiction, a résumé, two letters of recommenda­tion (sent directly to VCCA by the references), and a brief profession­al statement with a $40 applicatio­n fee by September 15.
