BOOK PRIZES

Aria Aber of New York City won the 2018 Prairie Schooner Book Prize in Po­etry for her po­etry col­lec­tion, Hard Dam­age. Liz Breazeale of Kansas City, Mis­souri, won the 2018 Prairie Schooner Book Prize in Fic­tion for her story col­lec­tion, Ex­tinc­tion Events. They will each re­ceive $3,000 and pub­li­ca­tion of their books by Uni­ver­sity of Ne­braska Press. Glenna Luschei and Hilda Raz se­lected the fi­nal­ists for the po­etry con­test; Ber­nice McFad­den and Jack Driscoll se­lected the fi­nal­ists for the fic­tion con­test. Kwame Dawes was the fi­nal judge for both po­etry and fic­tion. The an­nual awards are given for a po­etry col­lec­tion and short story col­lec­tion. The next dead­line is March 15, 2019.
