So­zopol Fic­tion Sem­i­nars

ENGLISH AND BUL­GAR­IAN SCHOL­AR­SHIPS

Nine fic­tion writ­ers won schol­ar­ships val­ued at $1,600 each to at­tend the So­zopol Fic­tion Sem­i­nars in Bul­garia. They are Jo Lang­don of Gee­long, Aus­tralia; Nathan Go of Davao City, Philip­pines; Sacha Idell of Ba­ton Rouge, Louisiana; Pe­tar Kru­mov, Ge­nadiy Mi­haylov, Ru­men Pavlov, and Al­bena Todor­ova, all of Sofia, Bul­garia; Sofie Ver­raest of Brus­sels, Bel­gium; and Tay­mour Soomro of Karachi, Pak­istan. They each re­ceived full tu­ition, room and board, and most travel ex­penses. Theodora Di­mova, Philip Gra­ham, El­iz­a­beth Kos­tova, and Ge­orgi Tenev judged. The an­nual awards are typ­i­cally given to five writ­ers work­ing in English and five writ­ers work­ing in Bul­gar­ian. The next dead­line is Fe­bru­ary 25, 2019.
