Chuckanut Writers Conference
The 10th annual Chuckanut Writers Conference, cohosted by Whatcom Community College and Village Books, will be held on June 26 and June 27 on the campus of Whatcom Community College in the coastal city of Bellingham, Washington. The conference features workshops in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, as well as keynotes, readings, open mics, and consultations with agents, editors, and marketing professionals. Optional preconference master classes will be held on June 25. The faculty includes poets Anastacia-Reneé, Sierra Golden, Casandra López, and Jory Mickelson; fiction writers Omar El Akkad, Kristen Millares Young, and Leni Zumas; creative nonfiction writers Priscilla Long, Tiffany Midge, and Nathan Vass. Participating publishing professionals include agent Michelle Brower (Aevitas Creative Management) and editor Craig Popelars (Tin House Books). The cost of the conference, not including meals, is $245 until May 26 and $285 thereafter. The cost of the conference is $99 for students. The registration deadline is June 26. Pitch sessions with literary agents are available for an additional $12; register by June 12. Preconference master classes are available for $79 to $99.
