Mendocino Coast Writers’ Conference
The 31st annual Mendocino Coast Writers’ Conference will be held from July 30 to August 1 at Mendocino Middle School in Mendocino, California. The conference features workshops in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, as well as craft talks, readings, manuscript consultations, open mics, and panels with agents and editors. An optional post-conference daylong Publishing Boot Camp will be held on August 2. The faculty includes poet Michelle Peñaloza; fiction writers Julie Buntin, Anita Felicelli, Tomas Moniz, and Susan Stinson; and nonfiction writers Rahawa Haile and Christine Hyung-Oak Lee. Participating publishing professionals include agents Ayesha Pande (Ayesha Pande Literary) and Marya Spence (Janklow & Nesbit) and freelance editor Shirin Yim Leos. The registration fee, which includes most meals, is $675. One-on-one manuscript
consultations are available for main conference attendees for an additional $60. The Publishing Boot Camp is $150 and may be attended separately from the conference. The Moth Retreat for Artists and Writers
The Moth offers residencies of one to six weeks year-round to poets, fiction writers, and nonfiction writers in a converted barn in Cavan, Ireland, approximately two hours northwest of Dublin. Residents are provided with private lodging with a full kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and living room. The house accommodates one writer (or a couple) at a time. The cost of the residency is €400 (approximately $444) per week, with a supplementary fee of €100 (approximately $111) per week for an additional person. Orion Environmental Writers’ Workshop
The Orion Environmental Writers’ Workshop, cosponsored by the Omega Institute, will be held from June 21 to June 26 at the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, New York. The conference features readings, lectures, publishing presentations, and individual manuscript consultations with faculty, as well as workshops for poets, fiction writers, and nonfiction writers who write about nature and the environment. The faculty includes poets Ellen Bass and Beth Ann Fennelly, fiction writer Joe Wilkins, and nonfiction writers Belle Boggs, Garnette Cadogan, and Bronwen Dickey. The cost of tuition is $995. Lodging is available at the Omega Institute from $495 for camping to $1,505 for a single cabin with a private bath. The Ragdale Foundation offers residencies of 18 and 25 days year-round to poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers on 50 acres of prairie
in Lake Forest, Illinois, 30 miles north of Chicago. Residents are provided with a private room and meals. The residency fee is $630 for an 18-day residency and $875 for a 25-day residency. Studios of Key West
The Studios of Key West offers monthlong residencies to poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers at the Old Town campus in the Duval Street neighborhood in Key West, Florida. Residents are provided with private lodging and work space. There is no cost to attend the residency, but residents are expected to participate in one community event during their stay. Residents are responsible for their own meals and transportation expenses.

Summer Fishtrap Gathering of Writers
The 33rd annual Summer Fishtrap Gathering of Writers will be held from July 6 to July 12 at the Wallowa Lake Lodge in Wallowa Lake, Oregon. The program features workshops in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, as well as panel discussions, craft talks, and readings. The theme for the 2020 conference is “Courage” and features a keynote from nonfiction writer Craig Childs. The faculty includes poets Tim Z. Taleamor Park
Taleamor Park offers two-week residencies from May through September and residencies of at least two weeks from October to April to poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers on a scenic 350-acre working grain farm in northern Indiana, near Lake Michigan. Residents are provided with a private, air-conditioned room in an 1854 brick Italianate house, work space, access to a library, local transportation, and a welcome meal; other meals and travel expenses are not included. For residencies from May through September, the cost of the residency ranges from $59 to $98 a day, depending on financial circumstances. Words and Wanderlust Writing Retreat
The 2020 Words and Wanderlust Writing Retreat will be held from June 7 to June 13 at the boutique Communal Hotel in Tbilisi, Georgia.
