Colrain Poetry Manuscript Conference
The Colrain Poetry Manuscript Conference will be held online from November 12 to November 15 and from January 14, 2022, to January 17, 2022. The conference features workshops of book-length poetry manuscripts with poets and editors. The faculty for the November session includes Rusty Morrison and Ellen Doré Watson.
The faculty for the January session includes Peter Covino and Brian Koemi Dempster. The cost of the conference is $1,000. Using only the online application system, submit three to four poems and a brief bio. Applications for both sessions are accepted on a rolling basis. Kentucky Book Festival
The 2021 Kentucky Book Festival, presented by Kentucky Humanities, will be held online and in person from November 1 to November 6 at JosephBeth Booksellers and nearby venues in Lexington, Kentucky. The festival will include online and in-person author conversations from November 1 to November 5, and will culminate with a daylong celebration featuring book signings, discussions, and other events with 140 authors on November 6 at
Joseph-Beth Booksellers. Participating authors include poet Crystal Wilkinson; fiction writers Elin Hilderbrand and Silas House; and nonfiction writers

North Carolina Writers’ Network Fall Conference
The 2021 North Carolina Writers’ Network Fall Conference will be held from November 19 to November 21 at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel in Durham. The conference features classes in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, as well as conversations and panel discussions on the craft and business of writing. The faculty includes poets Tyree Daye, Mimi Herman, and Han VanderHart; fiction writers Mesha Maren, Daniel Wallace, and Barbara Claypole White; and creative nonfiction writers Georgann Eubanks, Marianne Gingher, and Cat Warren. Participating publishing professionals include agents Maggie Cooper (Aevitas Creative Management), Tracy Crow (Tracy Crow Literary Agency), Kim Lindman (Stonesong), and Cassie Mannes Murray (Howland Literary). Poet Jaki Shelton Green will deliver the keynote. Some classes will be made available for online participation. The cost of the full conference is $400 ($275 for NCWN members). Portland Book Festival
The 2021 Portland Book Festival, hosted by Literary Arts, will be held online from November 8 to November 12 and will culminate with an in-person festival at the Portland Art Museum and the Portland’5 arts event center on November 13. The festival features events including author discussions and writing workshops. Participating authors include poet Dao Strom; fiction writers Omar El Akkad, Louise Erdrich, and

Red Clay Writers Conference

The conference features writing workshops and panels on literary journals and publishing for poets, fiction writers, and nonfiction writers. The faculty includes poet Jose Hernandez Diaz, fiction writers Jakob Guanzon and Laekan Zea Kemp, and nonfiction writer Megan Harlan. Nonfiction writer Anna Qu will deliver the keynote. Studio Faire
Studio Faire offers two- to four-week residencies between April and October to artists including poets, fiction writers, creative nonfiction writers, and translators at a small mansion in Nérac, France. The residency accommodates three artists at a time. Residents are provided with a private work space and bedroom, and use of a shared kitchen, dining room, bathroom, and gardens. The space is a ten-minute walk to shops, cafés, and bars, as well as a weekly farmer’s market, library, theater, music hall, cinema, and the Château de Nérac castle and riverside walk. The cost of the residency ranges from €790 for two weeks (approximately $925) to €990 for four weeks (approximately $1,160). Applications are currently being accepted for residencies in 2023. Using only the online application system, submit an author bio, a personal statement, and a project outline. There is no application fee. Admissions are made on a rolling basis.
