Mary Beth Griggs
Time is a central preoccupation for PopSci associate editor Mary Beth Griggs. Writing and editing for the magazine and website means she’s often short on it, but reporting on such topics as paleontology and space allows her to ponder eons as well as hours. Her profile of seismologist Lucy Jones, which starts on page 62, required driving around Pasadena, California, imagining how quakes could reshape the area. Both Griggs and Jones know that where humans make their homes today once was— and could again become—inhospitable terrain.
