Porterville Recorder

Bradley Sean Davis June 15, 1962 – August 26, 2015

-

Brad left us to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, August 26 in San Francisco, California. His three sons, Lucas, DJ, and Nate; his brother Kent, and sister-in-law Melinda; and his parents Linda and Milt were by his side.

Brad was born in Porterville and started his education, grades K-2nd, there. He attended 3rd and 4th grades in Fresno, 5th-8th grades in Roll, Arizona and grades 9th-12th in Wellton, Arizona. He attended the University of Arizona and Porterville Junior College. He served three years in the US Army and returned to Porterville to begin his career in construction.

Brad worked for many of the builders in the area where he distinguished himself as a construction superintendent. He was considered a whiz at reading blueprints and paying attention to detail.

Brad loved his sons. His oldest son, Lucas, feels privileged to have been coached by his dadmainly in National Junior Basketball. There are many fine young athletes in the area that were coached and counseled by Brad. They have kept in contact with him as he instilled a sense of fairness and integrity in them that they have carried into adulthood.

DJ was also coached by his Dad until Brad’s health started deteriorating. Unable to coach, he handed DJ a guitar and a budding star was born. Brad was so proud of him.

Nate came along a little too late for Brad to coach him, but he was at every game and func--

tion to support Nate. Brad loved his boys.

After Brad’s love for his boys was his love for Man Alive, the Men’s Christian Conference in which he played such an instrumental part. He loved being involved with bringing men to know God. He was the producer, fund raiser and the number one worrier. It was because of him and some of the others, that Man Alive has been successful.

Brad will be sorely missed by his sons, his brother and sister-in –law, his parents, and his multitude of friends. Brad is survived by his sons Lucas Davis, DJ Davis, and Nate Bodoh, his brother and sister-in-law Kent and Melinda Davis, and his parents, Milt and Linda Davis

A public viewing has been set for Tuesday, September 1 at Myers Funeral Home from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Services for Brad will be held Wednesday, September 2 at 10:00 am at Porterville Church of the NazarenePort Naz, 2005 W. Olive, Porterville, California. Following the services, burial will be at the Vandalia Cemetery with a short ceremony. Afterwards a gathering and remembrance will be held at the church.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Brad Davis Memorial Fund at Suncrest Bank. All proceeds will go to Brad's children.
