Ruben Castillo Sr.
Ruben Castillo Sr., age 78 and a resident of Porterville for 56 years passed away October 1, 2015 in Porterville. Ruben was born January 5, 1937 to Cirildo and Guadalupe Castillo at Bee County, Texas and Texas is also where he met Elfida Cortez whom he married November 24, 1957 at Lockney, Texas.
Two years later Ruben and Elfida moved to Porterville and Ruben soon found a job working for Pandol Brothers Farm in Delano. While working for Pandol Brothers as a supervisor he also supervised a Hot Shot Fire Crew for more than 40 seasons and also found time to help the Army Corp of Engineers when they built the Lookout Point, Amphitheater and Picnic Sites at Lake Success.
Ruben loved to hunt and fish, spend time at the Casino, collect guns and was a Foster Grandparent at the Porterville Developmental Center. Above all though, Ruben loved spending time with his family and his Family BBQ’S where always wonderful events that all of them enjoyed.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 58 years, Elfida Castillo. His son: Ruben Castillo Jr. and wife Dawn of Porterville. Daughter Esperanza Deluna and husband Rene of Porterville. 2 brothers: Benny Castillo of Oregon and Bill Castillo of Porterville. 4 sisters: Rosa Carmen of Springville, Margie Aguallo of Nebraska, Dolores Bond of Nebraska and Yolanda Crespo of North Dakota. 5 grandchildren: Cameron Castillo, Adrian Deluna, Vanessa Castillo, Cecilia Deluna and Vincent Castillo.
