Alberta A. Padilla

Alberta Aurelia Padilla age 82 and a lifelong resident of Porterville passed away December 5, 2016 in Porterville. Alberta was born in Porterville to Aurelio and Margaret Villegas February 3, 1934 and graduated from Porterville High School with the Class of 1952. She, along with her family and like so many others of this era, traveled up and down California working in fruit packing sheds as they followed the seasonal fruit harvests. Alberta left seasonal work when she began working full time for the JC Penney Company as a window dresser. She met a local boy named Rodolfo “Rudy” Padilla and on September 28, 1958 they married at St. Anne’s Catholic Church. Alberta soon thereafter began her career as a Teachers Aid. Alberta enjoyed everything about working in education and was very actively involved in PTA. She volunteered to work at countless activities and was always there to cheer at all the baseball games as her three sons moved through their school years in Porterville. When not working, she and Rudy along with her sisters were regulars at local community dances and as the years went by they included trips to the casino’s into their favorite list of things to do. Family get-togethers, making Christmas Tamales and her grandchildren were the joy of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents Aurelio and Margaret along with her sisters, Natalie, Margie, Alice & Carol. Rudy passed away on January 16, 2016. Her surviving family includes her sons and their wives: David and Angie Padilla, Mario and Cindy Padilla and Micky and Darcy Padilla all of Porterville. Her brother Bob Villegas and wife Vita of Lindsay along with 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. A Visitation is scheduled for Thursday December 8th from 3:00pm to 8:00pm with a 6:00pm Recitation of the Holy Rosary at Whitehurst-peters-loyd Chapel. Graveside Services will be at 10:00am Friday December 9th at the Porterville Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.
