Lindsay boys kick way to final

The fourth-seeded Lindsay boys soccer team advanced to the CIF Central Section Division IV soccer final against top-seeded Arvin, with a win Friday night in penalty kicks over Mclane.

The Valley final is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday in Arvin (19-3).

Avenal 3 Strathmore 2

Third-seeded Strathmore boys soccer team lost in overtime to second-seeded Avenal, 3-2, on Friday in the semifinals of the CIF Central Section Division VI playoffs.

The Spartans fell behind 2-0, but managed to send it to overtime after two goals, one in each half, by Alejandro Bermudez.

PHS teams win

The Portervill­e High School boys and girls swim teams defeated El Diamante, 117-51 and 9771, respective­ly.

Connor Entenman and Grant Snyder each won two individual events and were part of two winning relay teams. Entenman won the 200yard freestyle in 2 minutes and .03 seconds and the 100 free in 52.91, was on the winning 200 free relay (1:34.79) with Daniel Davis, Steven Wilson and Steven Chapman, and the 400 free relay (3:31.82) with Wilson, Snyder and Chapman.

Snyder won the 500 free in 5:31.09, the 100yard backstroke in 1:12.06 and the 200-yard medley relay (1:47.49) with Davis, Wilson and Chapman.

Chapman won the 50 free in 22.39 and Davis won the 100-yard breaststro­ke in 1:12.06 and took second in the 100 free in 53.20.

Josh Halopoff was second in the 100 breaststro­ke. Garrett Lamb was second in the 200 free. Isaiah Allard was second in the 200-yard individual medley. Wilson was second in the 100-yard butterfly. Isaac Gutierrez was second in the 100 backstroke.

Portervill­e girls won the three relays. Shyanne Rainey, Lauren Parnell, Rosemary Chapman and Maggie Rummel won the 200 medley relay in 2:05.87. Tristin Bennett, Alyssa Bodoh, Zandria Hilliard and Parnell won the 200 free relay in 1:59.37. Rosemary Chapman, Rummel, Therese Salinas and Rainey won the 400 free relay in 4:23.60.

Rosemary Chapman also won the 200 IM in 2:36.31 and the 100 fly in 1:08.58. Salinas won the 100 back in 1:22.77 and Bennett won the 100 breast in 1:20.21.

Finishing second for PHS girls were Rainey in the 200 and the 500 free, Rummel in the 50 and 100 free, Bodoh in the 100 back and Parnell in the 100 breast.

Sanger 55 Portervill­e 41

Seventh-seeded Portervill­e boys basketball team lost on the road to second-seeded Sanger, 55-41, in the quarterfin­als of the CIF Central Section Division III playoffs on Friday.

Portervill­e fell behind early and never recovered, trailing 24-16 at the half and were outscored 31-25 in the second half.

Treager Wallace scored 11 points in his final game for the Panthers and did not play the fourth quarter after coming down hard on his left wrist.

Tyler Daguman scored nine points and Richard Goodman and Nick Cabanyog each scored five points.

Dos Palos 50 Strathmore 36

No. 5 Strathmore boys basketball team had a hard time scoring in Friday’s quarterfin­al loss at No. 4 Dos Palos, 50-36, in the CIF Central Section Division V tournament.

The Spartans were limited to seven points in each of the first three quarters and trailed 3921 entering the fourth.

Strathmore outscored Dos Palos 15-11 in the final quarter.

Seth Aparicio led the Spartans with 10 points, followed by Jadon Guire with nine and Jaime Marin-cruz with seven.
