Preamble still rings true
“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.” — Preamble to the United States Constitution
T hose few words, written 230 years ago and approved at the Con- stitutional Convention have been the foundation of this nation which tomorrow,July 4, will mark its 241st birthday. “We the People” is the basis of our laws and we hope, on this day, we, the people, take time to not only reflect on the many things we enjoy in this nation, but on that responsibility to help govern this great land.
“To form a perfect Union,” is to create a nation where everyone has opportunities, but not entitlements. America is founded on the principle of opportunity and while not all can always share in that, everyone is given the opportunity.
No one, should expect to be handed what others have worked to achieve.
“Insure domestic Tranquility,” means we should get along and agree to disagree, not resist or obstruct as we see today. Over our 241 years of history Americans have had to give and take, compromise and move on. We should remember that.
“Provide for the common defense promote the general Welfare and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity," we believe was intended we should all work for the common good and create opportunities for everyone.
With all our troubles, America
is still the greatest land in the
world and still is a land of opportunity and for work those hard. willing to sacrifice America is an independent nation and continues to choose its own path. We are guided by a democracy which allows for differences, yet allows us to find solutions to those differences. We are a strong nation, a diverse nation and one envied by nearly every other nation in the world. Happy Independence Day.
