LETTER TO THE EDITOR
Will miss editor
Editor,
We’ll definitely miss you Rick.
Porterville is tremendously lucky to have a local newspaper, one that promotes and supports our community, in addition to having an outstanding Editor, Rick Elkins, who takes to heart the importance of the public’s needs to be well informed and educated.
During Rick Elkins’ tenure, many thousands of people have been recognized for their contributions and successes in this community; from our many and diverse civic organizations and student scholastic achievements to all levels of sports competitions to the many businesses and individuals that make up the fabric of our town.
Whether it’s the water crisis that affected our east side of Porterville or the drought that has affected us all, our varied civic activities such as the support of our veterans, citywide Band-a-rama, our community Porterville Fair or fishing and golf tournaments, Rick has seen to it that all aspects of our community have been fairly and equitably reported to us, always with an honest, sensible and thoughtful approach, especially within his editorials.
Rick will be sorely missed as he retires from the Porterville Recorders’ Editors’ desk. Many times in life we don’t truly appreciate something until its gone and this will certainly be the case with Rick Elkins.
